About This Spot

Stepping into Granny Bee’s in the heart of Appomattox is like slipping into a cherished, sunlit corner of a Southern small town where time slows just enough for conversation, comfort, and a good meal to take center stage. The humble, unpretentious storefront on Main Street invites you in with the promise of warm hospitality and a pace that encourages lingering — whether it’s for a leisurely breakfast or an early evening dinner shared with friends or family.

The space exudes a cozy, lived-in charm that feels entirely familiar, like the kitchen table you remember from childhood visits. Soft chatter blends with the occasional clink of plates, and the worn-in booths offer a quiet intimacy amid the steady hum of a local gathering place. Here, the rhythm is gentle and unhurried, shaped by kind servers who treat guests less like customers and more like old friends coming home.

Granny Bee’s culinary heart beats with a collection of lovingly crafted dishes rooted in Southern traditions and American comfort food, where fresh coffee and cornbread are as essential as the smiles that greet you from the kitchen. Whether it’s breakfast served all day, a hearty seafood platter, or soulful dishes brimming with familiar, comforting flavors, each plate feels thoughtfully prepared and generously portioned.

The experience is grounded in a sense of place — the rich textures of local soul food meeting the simple joys of country diner classics. It’s a spot where pulled pork sandwiches come with a side of home-cooked pinto beans and fries, and where a waffle topped with fresh berries can evoke memories of slow, sun-drenched mornings. Vegetables, meats, and sides all arrive with the kind of freshness and care that invites you to savor each bite like a warm hello from the kitchen.

Visiting Granny Bee’s is less about rushing through a meal and more about discovering the little moments that punctuate a genuine community hub: a server’s handwritten birthday note, the aroma of biscuits and sausage gravy rising from the kitchen, and the quiet pleasure of good food paired with kind, attentive service. It’s a place that doesn’t just serve meals, but quietly weaves together the familiar threads of home, history, and hospitality in every visit.

Great little mom and pop restaurant in downtown historic Appomattox Virginia. Friendly service and the flood was great. They serve breakfast all day. Love coming here when I'm in town to visit family.

My husband wanted liver and onions so we headed to Granny Bees otw home from picking my daughter up from college. The food gave us the homemade, Southern feel. It was fresh and delicious. The atmosphere was that of a small town Southern feel at Christmas time. The most wonderful part of it all was how kind and attentive the waitresses were! We just felt like “home” with how they treated us. It was evident that they truly love their customers by the way the people came in and were greeted by name! I am definitely going back and would recommend Granny Bees to ANYONE that is in Appomattox, VA!

Food was great, our waitress even wrote a happy birthday note for my husband. Love a good country diner! And Granny Bee's is definitely it.

Perfect “meat and three” with comfort food and a quaint atmosphere. I went with all vegetables, very tasty. The cornbread was probably my favorite thing the best I have ever eaten, buttery and moist. Yes, I asked for another and my sweet server brought it. My only regret was after those two slices of cornbread I had no room for dessert.
